05/31/2013	Friday: Literacy Volunteers of Broome and Tioga - Fundraising Event @ 12:00pm - 6:00pm At Recreation Park in Binghamton, from 12:00 to 6:30. Dinner through Gance's catering. Choices include Fish, Steak, Pulled Pork, and Shrimp. Selling drinks and baked goods, a 50/50 raffle will be going on as well.
05/31/2013	Friday: Keri's Salon & Spa - $10 Haircut With Food Donation See Maria At Keri's Salon & Spa to receive a $10 haircut with food donation Maria is collecting food for Catholic Charities / Broome Emergency food Pantry. Women haircut/style normal $30 mens cuts $18 though with any nonparishable food that is brought to the salon for donation the haircut/style price will change to $ 10.00. Program runs through month of May Walk ins welcome, though best to make appointment
06/01/2013	Saturday: Chicken BBQ Benefit for Mel Heeman @ 1:00pm - 5:00pm At Liberty Park (South on 29 toward Montrose, PA) Chicken Dinner BBQ tickets will be $10. Children under 5 eat free. There will be 50/50 raffles, basket raffles, baked goods. In loving memory on Mel "Superman" Heeman, to offset costs that the family incurred. All donations are welcome. No donation is too big or small to help a grieving family. 06/30/2013	Sunday: Heroes for the American Red Cross (HARC) @ 6:30p Endicott, N.Y. (May 8, 2013) Communities of the Southern Tier can help support the American Red Cross by joining the Heroes for the American Red Cross campaign. Heroes is a grassroots campaign where businesses, school clubs, church groups, civic organizations and individuals seek pledges to raise at least $1,000 for the American Red Cross Southern Tier Chapter, which includes Broome, Chenango, Delaware, and Tioga counties. The campaign will run through June, and the money raised will support Red Cross services, including disaster relief, assistance for fire victims, emergency military communications, and first aid, CPR and other lifesaving programs. Individuals who want to use social media to help raise money can become an Online Hero and utilize peer-to-peer fundraising with their own Heroes for the American Red Cross team. During last years Heroes campaign, a 12-year-old girl recruited an online team that raised $1,000; a plant in Tioga sold hero squares for $1 apiece and raised $1,100; and a Broome County bank raised $1,600 during Jeans Week, when they paid to wear jeans for a day or the entire week. The campaign will culminate with a special night for all Heroes at a Syracuse Chiefs baseball game June 30 at Alliance Bank Stadium in Syracuse.
